I am 25, past my test about 12 month ago and just recently bought my first car and i need to get some insurance started as of tomorrow.

I went to the Direct Line website for a quote.

For just me to be insured it was £900.

Sounds about right. You husband is less of a risk and on the basis that he will use the car some of the time the overall risk is less. You however are an unknown quantity and so the main part of the cost is you. After a year or so of claim free motoring

The cost will be less for the 2 of you because (I'm guessing) your husband has held his license longer.

Try playing around with it, putting him as the main driver and you as a named driver and then vice versa. You may be able to get it

What UK car insurance companies will consider my Canadian driving experience?

I recently exchanged my Canadian driving license for a full UK license but insurance quotes are so high because most companies only consider that I haven't had my full license for more than a year (in fact I have had a full Canadian license for 8 years).
