I recently filed a claim because my car ran through a puddle of water and stop running. When we took it to the dealer, they said that the problem was water in the engine block. Insurance paid for the change of the block and everything was ok.
It could have been related, but maybe not. Regardless, those techs are RETARDED for telling the insurance rep, that the electrical damage was unrelated! You should call them and tell them to try to work it out with the insurance, otherwise they are not

call your insurance company adjuster and ask them if they have all the info that they need or if they need an appraisal or anything
then you can ask about how long they expect this claim to take
