insurance claims car was stolen but police report doesn't?

my car was hit about 5 months ago and the police report was filed. i received my copy of the police report and it doesn't state the car was stolen. now my insurance company is claiming, 5 months later, that the car that hit me was stolen. can this happen?
Police reports are specific to the incident. So there may be a police report for the accident and there may be one out there that does not involve your vehicle, it would just be a police report filed by the owner of the vehicle for a stolen car. That

Hi. My car was stolen and I have full coverage insurance. I've been asked my my claims rep about the phone records of the "phone calls that I made the day my car was stolen" Because I told her that I called my boyfriend to come pick me up &
WOW - she's being thorough.
Too many people fraudulently report their car stolen (they lie). And because of those people, honest people like you have to go thru this.
She wants to verify the condition of the vehicle also
