It's an expense. Aside from the fact that ANY expense rises, there is no other reason an expense decreases income. Income is ONLY decreased when expenses rise.

A few myths and facts about health care

18.05.12

There is a myth about health care in this country that if you have health insurance, you’re safe. Another is that we have the best health care. Elizabeth Warren debunks both of these myths with facts. We’re going broke paying for health care, but many countries have better outcomes. Half of the families who filed for bankruptcy did so after serious health problems, and 75 percent of them had health insurance at the beginning of their illness. This woman is an incredible advocate for people, and hopefully, the next senator from Massachusetts.

More facts. In 2011, the Affordable Care Act provided new benefits to Americans. At least 2.5 million more young people have health insurance because of the provision allowing them to be covered on their parent’s policy until the age of 26. And if they have a serious condition, when they are 26, they can not be denied coverage because of that pre existing condition.

Now, insurance companies can’t raise rates more than 10 percent without explaining and justifying the increase in writing. Also, the 80/20 rule makes sure that 80 percent of health premiums are actually spent on health care.
