tesco car insurance FAQ

I insured through Zurich with an insurance broker and have had a free courtesy car for 3 weeks (repairs delayed due to inclement weather).

The policy also includes legal expenses and breakdown assistance as standard - so why anyone would

The courtesy car should be insured through the bodyshops policy, you don't normally have to do anything.

Phone insurer
Tell them new details and when it is to start from
Pay additional premium and an admin charge by card on the phone, they will insist
You can't do it on line

just ring them, simples (thats tesco not the bunch of meerkats!)

Tesco Insurance are brokers. All they do is put you with an insurance company, then claim commission for doing so. If you read through your documents, it should tell you who the insurance company is. It might save some money if you approach the company

Elderly people are sensible drivers, but they could still benefit from re-tests

18.05.12

However, I feel strongly that all younger drivers should also be re-tested. Safety on roads and to pedestrians is paramount.

L Colin Williams
Colwyn Bay, Conwy

SIR – Years of motoring experience makes for better defensive driving, which is why the older driver is less accident-prone than the younger tearaway. Age has nothing to do with safe driving. Temperament, anticipation, knowledge of limitations and self-discipline are the major factors and these come with experience.

The real reason for the campaign to get old-timers off the roads is that there are too many cars in this overcrowded island.

Barrie Skelcher
Leiston, Suffolk

SIR – Most elderly drivers are more careful than younger drivers. But faster and more impatient drivers could do with a warning that they are behind an older driver.

Rather than make old people take nerve-racking tests, they could be encouraged to fix an S-plate (for “senior”) to their cars, so that other drivers would show them a little more patience – or give them a wide berth.
