i just turned 16 and my dad and were talking about cars recently actually.
try the Jetta, a small toyta or honda.
don't buy an SUV first, they guzzle gas and aren't too safe around turns if you're not careful.

As has been said, anything that fits into your parents' budget, isn't too high on insurance, and doesn't have too many internal problems. Not a new car; no 16 year old needs one of those, and while not every teen is a stupid driver, the description fits

Darrell Wallace Jr., in his third full year on the circuit, is widely expected to be the one who benefits. Wallace Jr., 18, is one of several drivers who switched teams in the offseason, taking over Gresham’s seat at Joe Gibbs Racing.
