Flagler County police blotter: Teen girls charged with car burglaries

PALM COAST -- Two teenage girls are accused of breaking into at least seven cars over a weeklong period and taking property valued at more than $1,600, according to a Flagler County sheriff's spokeswoman.
Investigators believe a 17-year-old Palm Coast girl and a 16-year-old Bunnell girl, whose names are being withheld because of their ages, broke into cars on Russell, Rose, Ruth, Rose Petal and Round Tree drives between Feb. 19 and 25, spokeswoman Debra Johnson said.
They are accused of taking global positioning units, iPods and CDs.
Most of the stolen property was recovered from the Palm Coast girl's home, Johnson said.
An estimated $1,550 worth of stolen goods were recovered.
The girls were "car shopping," according to Sheriff Don Fleming.
"These two targeted unlocked vehicles and at least one admitted they were looking for money," he said.
Both girls are charged with six counts of burglary to a vehicle, two counts of grand theft, one count of grand theft of a fire extinguisher and three counts of petit theft, Johnson said.
